Tumblr Forces Brands to Take a Stand on Marriage Equality

Confused about where your favorite brands stand on the marriage equality debate? The Brand Equality Tumblr is here to help

Dozens of bands including Harley-Davidson, Axe and Oreo are featured on the site, which presents logo-based riffs on the red equal sign. Does that mean that they support same-sex marriage? Not necessarily. As the site explains, the brands are assumed to be in favor of the measure. However, if they request to be removed, then it will be assumed that they aren't.

In other words, this is a sort of public shaming for brands. Or, another way to look at it is this exactly the sort of thing brand gurus mean when they say that marketers are now living in an age of transparency. Read more...
