Someone Paid $955 for a Roadkill Cat Skin Rug

Is your living room missing a certain dash of decorating pizazz? Consider adding a fuzzy (and gruesome) touch with a cat skin rug

A New Zealand man pulled an abrupt U-turn when he spotted a dead cat on the road. Taxidermist Andrew Lancaster said the recently deceased orange feline was a "pretty nice looking cat," so he scooped up the carcass and turned it into a furry floor accessory. Lancaster then put the cat skin rug up for bid on an auction site, where it fetched $955.

Not surprisingly, the rug has garnered criticism from animal rights advocates and cat lovers. Eliot Pryor, managing director of animal advocacy group SAFE, called the cat rug auction in "extremely bad taste," according to The New Zealand Herald
