Notre Dame Reaching Sports Fans, Recruits With Spotify Playlists

Notredame

Music is a part of any athlete's routine leading up to a big game — in the locker room, on the bus, at the gym and so on. It's a natural fit then that Notre Dame University wants fans to get in on that experience with a series of hand-picked playlists for music-streaming service Spotify

Although team marching bands and a cappella groups have had a presence on Spotify before, this the first time a collegiate athletics department has joined forces with the streaming platform. The move is to get fans and even player recruits more pumped up about the school's teams.

"The playlists are not only for fans but hopefully recruits too," Christianne Harder, social media manager at Notre Dame Athletics, told Mashable. "Kids are into music, and this is another way to show the personalities of the teams. When you are a potential student athlete, you get one official visit to get to know a team. Social Media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and now Spotify allow a new way to figure out if this might be the team for you, and music tells you a lot about someone."
