RIP Google Reader and Other Top Comments

When Google announced it would discontinue its Google Reader at the beginning of July, the web feed's loyal fan base was stunned. Reactions to the announcement were heartfelt; Mashable's Chris Taylor wrote an article called "Hey Google, We Still Love Reader" that was part op-ed, part love-letter; Todd Wasserman suggested Yahoo jump on the opportunity to create its own RSS news reader; someone even went so far as to submit a petition to President Obama asking him to save Reader.
