Andy Rubin Steps Down as Google's Head of Android

Andy-rubin2

Andy Rubin is stepping down from his role as head of Google's Android division, the company announced Wednesday.

Rubin founded Android, which was acquired by Google in 2005, and served as Google's SVP of mobile and digital content. Though he will no longer be in charge of Android, Rubin will stay at the company in an unspecified new role.

"Having exceeded even the crazy ambitious goals we dreamed of for Android — and with a really strong leadership team in place — Andy’s decided it’s time to hand over the reins and start a new chapter at Google," Larry Page, Google's co-founder and CEO, wrote in a blog post. "Andy, more moonshots please!"
