Napster Documentary 'Downloaded' Wades Through the 'Bullsh-t'

AUSTIN — Napster co-founders Shawn Fanning and Sean Parker were unsure how the audience at South by Southwest would react to the premiere screening of Downloaded, the new documentary detailing the birth of digital-media sharing and Napster's downfall.

"It seemed like everybody was pretty into it," Parker said onstage Sunday night after the screening, which incited cheers. "The guys sitting in front of me were really into it because I was whispering to my fiance and they told me to shut up."

Downloaded — directed by screenwriter and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure actor Alex Winter (he was Bill) — took more than a decade to make. Winter infused the documentary with interviews and footage from key players, both proponents and critics of file sharing
