Iceland May Ban Porn

Iceland recently announced that it is considering enacting a country-wide ban on porn. Simon Shehata disagreed with the logic behind the law, arguing that a ban would actually be harmful to kids.

Last week on Mashable commenters discussed a potential country-wide ban on porn by Iceland. If the ban comes to fruition, Iceland will be the first Western country to censor the buying or downloading of porn online. Some of our readers argued that porn encourages violence against women and hoped to see similar bans such as this one in other countries in the future. Other readers doubted the ability of the government to truly censor all online porn, and argued that attempting to do so would be an ineffective solution to a problem that could be solved with better parenting.
