Student Wins $5,000 With Epic Half-Court Buzzer Beater

Memo to broke college students everywhere: Stephen Bass is your new hero and role model.

The Auburn University sophomore made a desperation half-court buzzer beating shot to win $5,000 tuition in a contest put on by Golden Flake Snack Foods during halftime of a Wednesday college basketball game.

Like any good buzzer beater, the miraculous shot came after a dramatic buildup. Bass' task in the challenge was to make a layup, free throw, three-pointer and half-courter in 24 seconds.
