Obamas Executive Order on Cybersecurity May Be Imminent


President Barack Obama's long-expected executive order on cybersecurity will be announced Wednesday, according to a report.

The order is expected to be revealed at an early morning event at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, reported The Hill, citing "two people familiar with the matter." Mashable has reached out to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy for comment and will update this post with any response.

Obama's order is expected to set up voluntary cybersecurity standards for private businesses operating critical infrastructure. It also orders government agencies to share information about potential threats with businesses, according to Bloomberg News.
