Google Takes on Global Warming, Asteroid Mining, Malaria and More


Google hosted its second annual Solve for X event last week, a meeting of big minds to discuss radical high-tech solutions to world problems. On the docket were everything from asteroid mining to eradicating malaria, and Google posted the new proposals on the Solve for X site, which also got a makeover.

In a blog post, Google also said it was introducing more community features to the site, letting visitors log in with their Google+ account info and create a profile specific to Solve for X. Once you're logged in, you can rate any of the existing proposals (though you can't comment) and even submit your own.
