Kickstarter Pledges Topped $300 Million in 2012

Kickstarter had its first nine-figure pledge year in 2012.

The crowdfunding platform received $320 million in pledges in 2012, more than triple the amount it received in 2011 and the first time it topped $100 million in a single year, according to year-end stats released by Kickstarter on Tuesday.

Of those pledges, about $274 million was collected and went to 18,109 projects that were successfully funded last year. By comparison, there were just under 12,000 projects successfully funded in 2011 and about 4,000 in 2010.
