Pokemon Makes its First Leap Into 3D


The megapopular Pokemon franchise will finally be coming to the 3DS handheld this fall, according to an announcement from Nintendo Tuesday morning.

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are the first 3D entrants into the long-running gaming franchise and will be released in North America, Europe and Japan sometime in October, according to a livestreamed announcement by Nintendo President Satoru Iwata.

The franchise will introduce all new creatures to the Pokemon universe; the trailer showed off the three new Pokemon players can start the game with: Fennekin, Froakie and Chespin.
