Amazon Prime Comes to Canada


Amazon has launched its subscription program, Amazon Prime, in Canada. The service has previously been available in the U.S., Japan, the UK, Germany and France.

For an annual fee of $79 (CDN), Canadians get free two-day shipping to "most cities" in Canada. In rural areas, specifically North or the Maritimes, users get unlimited shipping but without the two-day guarantee.

Users in some areas will also be able of upgrading to one-day shipping for an additional fee, starting at $3.99 per item.

"We have been working on (it) over the last year and we're very excited to launch," said Steve Oliver, the country manager for Amazon.ca.
