Twitterverse is 5th Most Annoying Word of 2012


As the year draws to a close, one well-known Twitter term is trending -- but not in a good way.

"Twitterverse" made its first appearance on Marist's fourth annual list of the most annoying words or phrases used in conversation. The Marist Institute for Public Opinion surveyed more than 1,200 adults nationwide and found that 9% consider Twitterverse to be the most obnoxious word of the year.

There are still four words or phrases that beat it, however. "Whatever" held onto its title as the most annoying word for the fourth straight year with 32% of those surveyed placing it at the top of their list, followed by "like", "you know" and "just saying," which were deemed the worst words by 21…
