Time Running Out for Open Web Advocates at UNs WCIT Internet Conference


Forces working to preserve the open Internet are running out of time as a United Nations conference that could dramatically change the open web nears its end.

The World Conference on International Telecommunications, or WCIT, began last week with the mission of updating a telecommunications treaty that hasn't been refreshed for two and a half decades. Now, with about three working days until the conference draws to a close, some countries, companies and advocacy groups are scrambling to ensure the revised treaty doesn't result in the end of the Internet as we know it.
