Yahoo Acquires OnTheAir to Build Out Mobile Team

Yahoo has acquired live video chat platform OnTheAir for an undisclosed amount, the startup announced on its website Monday.

This is the second known acquisition Marissa Mayer has made since she took over as CEO five months ago, following the acquisition of Stamped in late October.

Like Stamped, Yahoo is acquiring OnTheAir not for the product itself, but for the talent behind it. OnTheAir's CEO Josh Schwarzapel told Mashable that the startup'sfive-person team will be joining forces with Yahoo's mobile division in San Francisco to begin working on undisclosed projects. OnTheAir will no longer continue to exist as a standalone product.
