World AIDS Day, celebrated each Dec. 1, is a global day devoted to raising awareness of the virus, which affects millions around the world.

Social media campaigns aplenty are spreading messages of hope across the Internet: As of Nov. 30, before World AIDS Day has officially begun, the hashtag #WorldAIDSDay was already trending on Twitter.
