9 Million Used Facebook 2012 Election App

Facebooks Im Voting app was credited in a study with convincing 340,000 Americans to vote in 2010, and the social network brought it back for 2012s national elections. Although we dont yet know what effect Facebook had on voter turnout this year, the social network has released some interesting facts about which Facebook users carried out their civic duty.

The findings were published last Friday in a note authored by Eytan Bakshy, a member of Facebooks Data Science Department. Of the roughly 168 million Facebook users in the United States, 9 million used the app to declare their intention of voting.
