The robots are coming! The robots are coming! No, really, they are.

The fantasy of C-3PO-like or Rosie the Robot-like home helpers is finally starting to crystalize into a near-term reality. And a large part of that is due to projects like the Rethink Robotics' machine Baxter, and the work of Rodney Brooks.

Brooks is a legend in the robot world. He spent years serving as the head of MITs influential Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab, and was part of the team that brought us the worlds first truly successful commercial robot: iRobots Roomba robot vacuum.
