Online Petitions Ask White House to Let States Leave the Country

Less than two weeks into Barack Obama's second term, it seems at least a few Americans want out: The White House's online petition platform is getting hit with dozens of requests to let entire states leave the country.

South Carolina, Georgia, Michigan and a handful of other states are named in We the People petitions to secede from the union.

They began appearing over the weekend, and already have several thousand signatures apiece. Each petition has similar language -- "Peacefully grant the State of (fill-in-the-blank) to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government" -- suggesting it's the same person or group filing every request.
