Gay Marriage, Marijuana Legalization Celebrated on Twitter

History was made by voters in several states Tuesday, as Maine and Maryland became the first two states to legalize gay marriage by popular vote and Colorado and Washington state legalized recreational use of marijuana. Wisconsin's election of Tammy Baldwin's for senate made the books too, as she will become the first openly gay senator.

Baldwin's election and the passing of the two liberal social referendums sent Twitter abuzz through Wednesday morning. Twitter trending topics reflected the excitement, as Colorado and Washington, #marriageequality and Tammy Baldwin trended across the U.S.
