Sandy Victims Can Text These Numbers to Find Their Polling Place


In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, many New York and New Jersey residents are unsure about where to cast their ballot on Election Day. The web's got plenty of resources to help, but what if you're among the thousands without power?

If you've got a charged cell phone and a signal, you can call or text the following numbers for the latest info:

In New York, text "NYCVOTES" to 877877. You'll be messaged back with a series of prompts asking for your address, after which you'll get the latest info on your polling place location. Spanish speakers can text "DONDE" to 877877. Alternatively, call the State Board of Elections at 1-855-NYS-SANDY (1-855-697-7263).
