Asus Steals Surfaces Thunder With Its Own Windows RT Tablet

Asus has an answer to the Microsoft Surface: the Vivo Tab RT. Running Windows RT, the Vivo Tab is also a "productivity" tablet, and comes with a removable keyboard dock. It starts at $599 for 32GB, and a 64GB is available for $699 keyboard included for both.

Look out Microsoft Surface, there's another Windows tablet in town. Asus just unveiled its Vivo Tab RT, a Windows RT slate that also transforms into a laptop with the help of a keyboard dock. The difference is Asus has been doing this longer.

Yes, the Vivo Tab RT is very similar to the company's Android-based Transformer Pad tablet, though this guy is made to run Windows 8. Both tablets have similar form factors, with 10.1-inch screens and sport the same keyboard dock. They're also both powered by Nvidia's Tegra 3 processor. However, the hardware is not exactly the same -- the Vivo has different ports and has a slightly wedged design.
