We're learning more and more about Surface, Microsoft's head-first dive into the tablet wars. Last week we got the price, availability, model options and even some details about what it's like to touch the device.

However, a grand tour of the super-secret R&D facilities in Redmond, Washington, where Microsoft cooked up much of the magic that's inside this 1.5 lb. slab, left me with some extra special memories.

In the brief video above, Microsoft showed a collection of tech journalists, including yours truly, what happens when you drop a Windows RT-running Surface tablet from 36-inches high onto a hardwood surface.
