Rick Springfield Surprises Subway Riders With Concerts

Rick Springfield, the Australian singer-songwriter behind classic hits like "Jessie's Girl," just released a new album, and like many other artists decided to take to New York City to promote it.

Springfield, however, took a drastically different approach than most established artists. Instead of a big budget marketing campaign and blowout concert, the rocker decided to head underground to the city's subway system.

The morning of Oct. 10, Springfield took his acoustic guitar and played two impromptu concerts, at Penn Station and at the 42nd street subway stop. He also serenaded a train full of unsuspecting passengers on the 1 train in between the gigs.
