Amazons Lending Library Expands to Europe

Amazon Prime subscribers in the the UK, Germany and France will soon be able to borrow e-books through the Kindle Owners' Lending Library, the online retailer announced Thursday.

Beginning later this month, subscribers will be able to borrow up to one e-book per month at no additional cost. They'll have 200,000 titles to chose from, including all seven Harry Potter books in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish, as well as local-language books. There are no due dates on loans.

Amazon set up the original Lending Library in the U.S. in Nov. 2011. This is the first time it is being expanded outside the U.S.
