New Borderlands 2 Character Arrives a Week Early

Borderlands 2's fifth character class is coming to fans a week early. Players will be able to download the robot-controlling Mecromancer starting Tuesday.

The Mecromancer was created to bring something extra to Borderlands 2, specifically, elements not available from the four character classes released with the game, says Gearbox Software's vice president of marketing, Steve Gibson. The character, Gaige, controls a robot named Death Trap that can act as an offensive heavy hitter in combat, both dealing and taking a lot of damage. Death Trap can use both melee and long-range attacks to take down enemies, allowing the player to focus on shooting from a safer distance.
