Microsoft Sends Invitations to Windows 8 Launch Event

Microsoft has already said publicly that Windows 8 will officially launch on Oct. 26, with a big event in New York City the day before. Now it's in writing: Microsoft just sent invitations to the media for the event, to be held at Pier 57 in Manhattan.

The event will be fairly lengthy, it appears, with Microsoft allotting a full five hours for it. Company CEO Steve Ballmer will certainly be there along with key executives. There will also no doubt be several hardware partners to show off the various Windows 8 devices that have been unveiled over the past few months.
