PNC Is Latest Bank Hit With Major Cyberattack

SOPA

If you're a customer at a major bank, it's likely that it recently suffered a huge cyberattack.

PNC Bank is the latest national bank who has reportedly fallen victim to a series of Distributed Denial of Service attacks, a list that also includes Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo. As of Thursday afternoon, PNC.com was still down.

A hacker group from the Middle East is reportedly behind the attacks, which allegedly sent large amounts of traffic -- up to 10 to 20 times the normal rate -- to the site at once. Data is typically not hacked during denial of service attacks. Instead, the aim is to temporarily crash websites.
