Nook Video: Is Barnes & Nobles New Cloud Offering Enough?
Barnes & Noble Tuesday announced its new video service, the aptly named Nook Video.
This is a big move for the retailer, whose previous video offerings for its Nook line of tablets were limited to apps from services such as Netflix and Hulu Plus.
In contrast, Amazon, Apple and Google all have varied ecosystems of video content available to rent or purchase. Amazon also has its own Netflix-like offering, Prime Instant Video, which allows users to access thousands of film and television titles for free as part of their Prime membership.
Nook Video won't be limited to Nook devices -- the company says users can access content on TVs, tablets and smartphones.
