U.S. Adds Robot Fish to Homeland Security Forces


Alongside tanks and jets, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has added robot fish to its security forces.

The department's Science and Technology Directorate is funding the development of an unmanned underwater vehicle designed to look like a tuna fish, according to news site Science, Space and Robots.

Called the BIOSwimmer, the fish-shaped vehicle can navigate efficiently through harsh environments and hard-to-reach areas, such as flooded bilges and tanks. It can also inspect and protect harbors.
