Facebook Kills Photo-Tagging Suggestions for EU Users
European Facebook users will no longer have access to the site's photo-tagging feature -- at least, not for a while.
After receiving demands from privacy regulators across the EU, Facebook has indefinitely axed its facial recognition feature for all European users.
Ireland's Data Protection Commissioner (DPC) Billy Hawkes issued a report this morning of Facebook's compliance with the recommendations, which were made by regulators last December. In it, he suggests Facebook has "fully implemented" most of the DPC's recommendations -- those that haven't been implemented, he says, will be taken care of with a "clear timescale" in place.
