Apple's iOS 6, which hits iPads, iPods, and iPhones today, feature Apple's brilliant, new, native maps and 3D flyover mode. It's truly amazing. There's only one problem: No transit maps.
Since Apple launched the iPhone in 2007, the device and mobile platform has included Google's Map app. The service has been present in the iPhone and iOS for so long, that it almost seemed like a part of the platform. Then, late last year, Apple purchased 3D mapping company C3 technologies. In the meantime, the Cupertino giant's relationship with its Mountainview frenemy grew chillier and chillier. It was only a matter of time until various once-default Google services got the boot from Apple's iOS.
