Watch Curiosity Rovers Mars Descent in Stunning HD


In a "painstaking labor of love," Bard Canning spent more than a month turning the original low-resolution, four frames-per-second video from the Curiosity rover's descent to Mars into a 30 frames-per-second, high resolution masterpiece.

After adding motion-tracking and adjustment points, Canning was able to create a much more fluid and detailed video of the landing and of the Red Planet's surface.

Besides the heightened visual effects, the filmmaker also added sound, which transformed a video of something so far away it was barely reality into one tangible and starkly real.
