1. Pennsylvania State University
Penn State has been in the news a lot over the past year, and that attention has been ably handled by Penn State's social media team. PSU mostly uses Twitter to retweet Penn State related tweets to its more than 25,000 followers, but on Facebook they average three posts a day, usually pertaining to stories of accomplishments by former students. And the Penn State fans are loyal. As of August 16, 2012, Penn State holds the lead in the College Colors Day Online Contest, with more than 350 shares and 1,200 likes. If they win ESPN will give $10,000 dollars toward Penn State's general scholarship fund, and with the passionate fans that Penn State has (56% emotional response on socialmention.com's proprietary algorithm) how can they lose?
