Google Turns On Smart Updates For Android Apps

android-happyEarlier this year, at its I/O developer conference, Google announced that it would soon turn on delta updatesfor apps running on Android 2.3 and it looks like this feature is now up and running. With these smart updates, users don't have to download the complete app when there is an update. Instead, only the parts of the app that have changed need to be downloaded. When Google first announced this feature, its engineers estimated that smart app updates would only be about a third of the size of a full update, saving users bandwidth and extending their battery life.
