Educreations Grabs $2.2M From Accel, NewSchools To Turn Your iPad Into Your Classroom

Screen shot 2012-08-14 at 4.30.12 AMWhile it's easy to admire Salman Khan's (of Khan Academy) devotion to teaching and the incredible platform he's created, the truth is he's not a trained educator. What's more, there are millions of professional teachers who would relish the opportunity to create their own educational videos and interactive lessons, but the vast majority lack the resources to flip their own classrooms. That's where Educreations comes in. After graduating from Imagine K/12's education-specific startup accelerator, the company launched early this year to make it easy for teachers (and everyone else) to create, narrate and record video (and whiteboard) tutorials on the Web and the iPad -- and share them with the world. The learning tool was quick to find traction among teachers, so Educreations is on a mission to capitalize on that adoption, announcing this morning that it has raised $2.2 million in series A financing from Accel Partners and NewSchools Venture fund and more.
