Romney Campaign Uses Twitter Searches to Advertise VP App


Mitt Romney's campaign is using strategically placed Promoted Tweets to advertise a mobile app designed to deliver the first word of the candidate's vice presidential pick.

Twitter searches for politicians considered top vice presidential contenders, such as Tim Pawlenty and Rob Portman, show a Promoted Tweet advertising the app:

Romney's Promoted Tweet was first noticed by Politico.

A Romney campaign spokesperson didn't divulge details about its digital targeting strategy to Politico. Brands, including political campaigns, can pay Twitter to highlight certain tweets relevant to a user's search query.
