Cybersecurity Bill Stalls in the Senate




The Cybersecurity Act of 2012 failed to get enough votes to proceed through the Senate during a procedural vote held Thursday morning.

Senate Democrats, who supported the CSA, attempted to force a final vote on the bill through a process known as cloture. That vote failed 52-46 -- 60 "aye" votes were required for the tactic to be successful.

The CSA was designed to improve American business' protection against cyberattacks through the implementation of voluntary standards.
