Yes, we know Apple is the most secretive tech company on the planet, but when you have new technology, you're almost honor-bound to field-test it. That's how the original iPhone 4 prototype ended up in a bar (with no duck and no joke) just weeks before its official unveiling.

So while it's unlikely that Apple would let the eagerly anticipated, rumor-generating iPhone 5 stray too far from Cupertino, CA, we think the possibility exists that an iPhone 5 prototype could be anywhere at any time. We just have to know where to look for it.
