The revolving door of Yahoo CEOs has spun once more to produce what could be the beleaguered Internet giants best hope yet: Googler Marissa Mayer.

Mayer comes with strong pedigree. The Stanford University graduate joined Google in 1999 as employee number 20 just a year after fellow Stanford grads Sergey Brin and Larry Page founded it. As early as 2000, when she was still a Google product manager, Mayer was referred to as "Googles First Lady." By the time Google launched Google News in 2002, Mayer was the defacto spokesperson for the search giant. For years, in fact, many thought of the voluble and highly visible Mayer as the face of Google.
