Canadian Supreme Court Entrenches Tech Neutrality In Copyright Law

Michael Geist has a detailed analysis that concludesthere are two bigger, long term effects. First, Canada haseffectively now adoptedfair use. Second, the Supreme Court has made technologicalneutrality a foundationalprinciple of Canadian copyright. The technological neutralityprinciple could have an enormous long-term impact on Canadiancopyright, posing a threat to some copyright collective tariffproposals and to the newly enacted digital lock rules."
