Apple Backs Down on Environmental Standard [UPDATED]




It's probably the fastest policy reversal in Apple's history. After a week of being pilloried for withdrawing from the EPEAT registry -- a set of environmental standards for tech products -- the Cupertino giant has changed course.

The announcement came in a letter from Bob Mansfield, Apple veteran and the soon-to-retire senior VP of engineering. "Weve recently heard from many loyal Apple customers who were disappointed to learn that we had removed our products from the EPEAT rating system," he wrote. "I recognize that this was a mistake. Starting today, all eligible Apple products are back on EPEAT."
