Soccer Chiefs Approve Goal-Line Technology [POLL]




The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has approved the introduction of goal-line technology into soccer for the first time.

Two separate goal-line tech vendors, Hawk-Eye and GoalRef, were given the go-ahead Thursday. The Sony-owned Hawk-Eye system is a camera-based computer system already in use in tennis and cricket. It employs four high-speed video cameras located at different locations and angles surrounding the field. The video feeds help determine the location of the ball by a triangulation method.
