Nintendo 3DS XL: Still 3D, But Now Extra-Large




Nintendo is refreshing its sluggish-selling 3DS line with a an XL version boasting a 90% larger screen, new colors and longer battery life.

As Reggie Fils-Aime, president and COO of Nintendo of America, explains in the video above, the XL will be available in North America on Aug. 19 at a suggested retail price of $199.99. The launch date coincides with that of New Super Mario Bros. 2.

In addition to the larger form factor, the 3DS XL will also be bundled with a 4 GB SD card, which lets players immediately download games from the Nintendo eShop. There are also three new color combinations -- red and black, blue and black, and silver and black.
