Icann Applicants For New TLDs Revealed As Part Of Reveal Day: The Full List

Screen shot 2012-06-13 at 13.32.25A little bit of a song and dance today from Icann as it released the full list of businesses and other organizations that have applied for their own customized top-level domain names. The full list is here. In a press conference in London to mark what Icann is calling "Reveal Day," Icann's CEO Rod Beckstrom noted that over 500 companies and organizations have paid up tens of thousands of dollars to apply for the TLDs, for nearly 2,000 TLDs. They include some interesting twists: the Charleston Road Registry has applied for ".android" and ".google"; Apple Inc. has applied for ".apple." Two different organizations have applied for ".guardian": the Guardian newspaper and the Guardian Life Insurance Company.
