But Google wouldnt file an amicus brief from the kindness of its algorithmic heart. Larger issues are at play namely, safe harbor protection under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).As Google's counsel stated on Friday, Googles aim in seeking to participate in this case is to underscore the importance of the Courts decision to a wide array of legitimate and socially beneficial Internet services, and to the overall climate of free expression online.
