Online work platform oDesk is announcing that Thomas Layton is joining the company as Executive Chairman. In this role, Layton will work alongside current CEO Gary Swart in an active operating role. oDesk offers a marketplace for talent that makes it easy for companies to hire workers remotely. Most recently, Layton served as CEO of Metaweb Technologies until its acquisition by Google in 2010. He previously spent more than six years as the CEO of OpenTable and was the co-founder of CitySearch.
