Sony Recalling 1.6 Million Bravia LCD TVs Due To Fire Risk

It's an awesome new feature Sony calls Intelligent FireFlow CombustionMAX Engine NYFD Technology.But apparently the world isn't ready for this feature already installed on 1.6 million Bravia flat-panel TVs sold since 2007. Sony is recalling the whole lot after 11 incidents have been reported since 2008. The latest involved a small fire and smoke, per a Sony spokesperson. The cause is reportedly a fault component in the TV's backlighting overheats, melts the top of the TV, which then catches Aunt Dorothy's handmade doilies on fire.
